Olivia is a devoted sesquipedalian (look it up!) and an English teacher at a charter high school in the Bronx. After graduating from Amherst College in 2012, she spent two years wandering around the world (a year of teaching in France and a year of studying in the UK and lots of train-hopping in between). She bounds up all flights of stairs, has lost too many umbrellas to count, and will never say no to anything containing sweet potatoes.
After growing up in San Luis Obispo, California, Jayden moved north to attend UC Santa Cruz. While he graduated in three years with a degree in legal studies, he spent most of his time as editor-in-chief at City on a Hill Press, the student-run campus newspaper. Back in San Luis Obispo post-graduation, Jayden continues to consume news voraciously, and travel up and down the coast of The Golden State. Follow: @jaydennorris.
Rachel is a freelance writer and editor who lives in Philadelphia with her partner, her kid, and two terrible cats. She has a degree in rhetoric from UC Berkeley, and her work has appeared in HipMama, Liminalities, VICE, and more. When she's not geeking out about news and words, chances are decent she's eating pie while watching "King of the Hill" -- or she'd like to be, anyway. Follow: @mamacidal.
Brianna has been working in media since 2005, when she left Westfield University in Massachusetts and became the listings editor at an alt-weekly in Hartford. Now, she's the senior editor at the Times Union Magazine Division in Albany, N.Y. She cares very much about news, Beyonce, the Internet, gin and tonic and that Vine of this one puppy who keeps falling asleep and smooshing his face on a pillow. More at BriannaSnyder.com. Follow: @BriannaLSnyder.
Lily is currently a TV news producer in Dallas, Texas. Previously, she was a production assistant at MSNBC. She is also a recent NYU grad. She interned for Ann Curry's team at NBC News, The New York Times, The Village Voice, and the education nonprofit She's the First. Her interests range from politics to education to comedy. She is not actually a dinosaur. Follow: @lilyalta.
Christina is a freelance writer from a tiny town in Southern Maryland who just can't seem to figure out whether others are being sarcastic or not. She has a degree in business communication, with a focus in writing, from Stevenson University, and has written things for Severna Park Voice, Maryland Film Festival, The Villager, and Hello Giggles. Follow: @tinabuff where she constantly overthinks her tweets, or read her medley of musings at touchinfinity.wordpress.com.
Anugya is originally from New Delhi, India. She studied journalism at the CUNY Graduate School of Journalism in New York, graduating with a master's in international reporting. She plans to travel one day to all the places she reads about. She likes reading fiction, pop music, and going to the beach, but absolutely hates anyone mangling or shortening her name (which is quite common). She binge watches Korean dramas and anime series. She's a freelance writer and has produced content that has appeared in NBC, The Times of India, Time Out Delhi, and other publications.
Ian Carlos Crawford
Ian Carlos Crawford grew up in southern New Jersey and, like most people from New Jersey, he graduated from Rutgers University. He moved to New York for grad school and graduated from New School with an MFA in nonfiction writing. He has written for Geeks Out, BuzzFeed, and Gigantic Sequins, and his photography has been published in The Advocate and Next Magazine. He is currently working on both a fiction manuscript and a nonfiction one. He loves pugs, comic books, To Kill a Mockingbird, and "Buffy the Vampire Slayer.”
Patrick is a freelance international news reporter, having contributed to The Atlantic online and Mic. He's worked at CNNMoney, the New York Daily News, and Voice of America. Patrick loves tweeting, reading, and grabbing coffee in either New York or Washington D.C. Tweet anything on politics or world conflict to him! Follow: @patrickdehahn.
Alison is a nomadic freelance writer originally from Northern Virginia. A 2013 NYU graduate, she has been writing for everyone from PR agencies to startup companies to actual real life publications. She wastes her time watching old movies with her dog, Louie. Follow: @sheepandcake.
Sydney is a recent graduate of UC Santa Cruz with a degree in English-language literature. She served as a City on a Hill Press editor and an editorial intern at Good Times Weekly. She currently resides in Orange County, where she does her best not to spend all her money at the ridiculous number of malls. She loves watching Bravo reality shows and eating vegan food that isn’t too expensive (so, never). Follow: @sydmoorhead.
Sarah has been a nonprofit fundraiser, a door-to-door canvasser, and a personal finance reporter for SmartMoney.com. She is now a freelance writer, ghostwriter, and editor. She loves to travel, but mostly lives in Brooklyn with her cat, Jenkins, and her ever-deepening Joss Whedon obsession. Follow: @mssarahmorgan.
Jon is a lover of words, a master at getting lost, a stranger to the concept of fashion, and a movie-going fiend. He wrote and edited for several publications at UC Santa Cruz, and longs for the rolling hills of campus now that he's ventured southward to Los Angeles. There, he has trouble reading parking signs, reads too many screenplays, and works on growing up. Follow: @HopscotchWillie.
Lauren is originally from outside Saint Louis, but traveled down the Mississippi River to be a student at Tulane University, where she is the editor-in-chief of The Tulane Review and director of the New Orleans Universities Relay for Life. She has also written for NOLAWoman.com and Winnovating. One day she'll figure out how to make the Time Turner real, but until then, she'd like to thank coffee for her success. Follow: @laurenwethers.
Danielle (or Danie) is a student in the Stern School of Business at New York University. She studies Business & Political Economy and Journalism, and is very interested in documentary filmmaking and well-seasoned food. She has worked and interned everywhere from the entertainment industry in production to the data analytics industry in campaign financing, and is very excited to begin her journey at KICKER! She enjoys homemade lasagna, looking at witty dog accounts on Instagram and exploring.
Katelyn is a freshman at NYU, contributing writer for Washington Square News, and a fall 2015 Liberal Studies Leader for NYU. She is interested in everything, but has decided to settle for a major in Media, Culture, and Communications, a minor in the Business of Entertainment, Media and Technology, and possibly a minor in Cinema Studies just for kicks. In her spare time she enjoys walking long distances, writing poetry, traveling, and making Portlandia jokes (she’s a Portland native).
