Quote of the Day

Here are the top 5 most memorable quotes from the first presidential debate

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump went at it in round one of the presidential debate series at Hofstra University in Hampstead, New York. Like most debates throughout history, there was a lot of bickering, interrupting, criticizing, and fake smiling.

While the first presidential debate has come and gone, the quotes will live on. Here are the top five most memorable ones.

  1. Trump seeming to boast about not paying federal taxes after Clinton claims he doesn't pay them.

    "That makes me smart."

  2. Trump claiming his temperament is much better than Clinton's.

"Well I have much better judgment than she does. There's no question about that. I also have a much better temperament than she has...I think my strongest asset by far is my temperament. I have a winning temperament."

  3. Clinton with a powerful one-liner.

"I think Donald just criticized me for preparing for this debate. And, yes, I did. You know what else I prepared for? I prepared to be president. And I think that's a good thing."

  4. Clinton saying Trump blames her for everything, and him agreeing.

Clinton: "I had a feeling by the end of this evening that I'd be blamed for everything."

    Trump: "Why not?"

  5. Clinton's wordplay re: Trump's economic plan.

"I call it Trumped-up trickle-down, because that's exactly what it would be."

The first debate was full of gems, but there's sure to be more to come in debate two and three.
