Thanks, Marvel, but we already kinda knew Justin Trudeau was a superhero

We kinda knew Canadian prime minister Justin Trudeau was pretty super - he has muscles and he knows quantum physics. So it comes as no surprise when Marvel Comics said he'd be on the cover of their new comic book – Civil War II – that came out on Aug. 31.

Trudeau plays himself while he is surrounded by the Canadian superhero team Alpha Flight members Puck, Sasquatch and Aurora, along with Iron Man in the background.

Toronto-based Ramon Perez, the cartoonist behind the cover originally wanted Trudeau topless, but Marvel thought that it was too risqué, so they went with a tank top instead.

"I was going for a little bit of, I guess, a little bit of attitude, a little bit of smugness, like you don't know if he's already been boxing for a little bit and he's going back in, or he's just starting out and gearing himself up."

Trudeau joins President Obama who appeared on the cover of a 2009 edition.
