The #Indy500 as told by Twitter
The 100th #Indy500 was this weekend and lots of cars went very, very fast to try and get the coveted racing trophy.
If you're not really into cars or them racing one another, the Indy 500 is short for the Indianapolis 500, a yearly motor speedway competition. The Indy 500 is one of the more well-known and popular races, along with the Formula One's Monaco Grand Prix, which also happened today.
On Twitter, the hashtag, #Indy500, was on fire:
Happy for all involved with such an incredible day at the 100th #Indy500.
FANS are what make the difference. And that crowd..was..awesome!

Alexander Rossi crossed the finish line first and took home the trophy. Rossi is a rookie to the race so his win was surprising. It was also surprising that Rossi beat Juan Pablo Montoya, who won the last two Indy 500 races. Montoya fell out of the race when his car crashed into a wall and he was sent into the grass.
